Our Belief
Essential Doctrines
- The one true God is eternal, holy, perfect, omniscient and omnipotent. He is the Creator of the whole universe. God is Triune. The Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit are three distinct persons of the same essence.
- Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is fully God and fully man. He descended from heaven and became fully man, who lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords.
- The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.
The Holy Spirit empowers believers for Christian witness and service. The Holy Spirit desires to fill each believer continually with increased power for Christian life and witness, and imparts his supernatural gifts for the edification of the body and for various works of ministry in the world. All gifts of the Holy Spirit are vital for the mission of the church, and are to be earnestly desired and practiced. - The Bible was written by humans who were guided and inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible alone, and no other text is authoritative. Doctrine, truth, and ethics are derived from the authority of the Bible alone rather than man’s fallen perspective.
- Mankind bears the image of God. Since the Fall in Genesis 3, all mankind is born in sin and has the inclination to rebel against God. No human is righteous, but all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. Only through an intervening act of God can man be restored to a right relationship with God.
- Salvation is through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone (Jesus died, was buried, and was raised to life). The converted soul is indwelt with the Holy Spirit. Works are the manifestation of a genuine love relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Works apart from a saving faith in Jesus Christ are powerless to save anyone from his or her sin.
- Mankind has an eternal nature. Those who have rejected God’s means of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ have chosen to live apart from God forever in Hell. Those who have responded to God’s gracious plan of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ will live with God forever in Heaven.
