About First Baptist

First Baptist is a small but growing community of faith built on the foundation of Jesus Christ and the Word of God. We strive to be led and empowered by the Holy Spirit so we can live transformed lives—both in service and holiness. We desire to become a community of faith that is ethnically and economically diverse yet one in Christ.

Our Purpose

Our mission is to become a family of devoted disciples of Jesus Christ who are making disciples of Jesus Christ. Together we aim to help one another grow in grace and extend grace. Together we aim to fulfill Jesus’ Great Commission (Mt 28:18-20) both locally and globally.

Our History

First Baptist Church of Shelton was established in 1882, and is affiliated with the American Baptist Church. The original church building was located in downtown Shelton on the plot where Webster Bank now stands. We moved to Leavenworth Road in 1974.
